From 35 mm to digital cinema

"Du 35 mm au numérique"

2011 Master's work Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense

Anthropological Cinema and Documentaries.

Directing, shooting and editing: Raissa Ladeira

Runtime: 9'45"

At the cinema Sept Parnassien in Paris, the projectionist José Bonillo fallows new technical challenges in his profession. What was at first rather craft with 35mm projection, has become rather programmed with digital.

In one hand it is shown the complexity of the machine at the time from the film, particularly its long trajectory during the projection and the work of assembly and dismantling it. On the other hand, it is shown how the digital support is compact and practical. Nevertheless, doubts flow in the air about social changes in the profession of a projectionist.
